This resource for pharmacy counter assistants is designed to test your knowledge of this commonly encountered clinical problem. Answer the ten assessment questions relating to the latest management and advice for patients presenting to pharmacy with typical cough and cold symptoms.

On successful completion of this resource, you will be presented with a certificate of completion to include in your PREP or CPD portfolio.

Assessment

Proving your knowledge and that one is up-to-date with the latest developments in medicine is now a big part of the continuous training of all health professionals. You have received a considerable amount of training to enable you to deal with a large variety of patient presentations and this resource is designed to assess that knowledge and continue to keep you up-to-date. What is unique about this resource is that we present you typical patient/customer scenarios that will be immediately familiar to you, with each question assesing what you would do in that scenario.

Each question is designed to test a particular aspect of patient care that is highly relevant to your role as a counter assistant. Read the scenarios carefully and then select what you consider to be the most appropriate answer for that question. After each question there are detailed explanations and further reading to help support your learning. Also you are given the opportunity of reflecting upon each of the questions. We give you tips on how you might wish to reflect on each question, but feel free to add what you think is appropriate.
